Pelargoniums Sentimental Favorites

Sentimental Favorites is a catch-all designation for plants that we all enjoy but fit into a number of different categories. The nursery has at least two tulip flowered pelargoniums, some birds egg, and some Stellars, but not enough to put in separate categories. If you are looking for something particular please contact us, as we may well have it.

Pelargonium (Orange Zonal)
We are often given plants here at the nursery, and many of these are noteworthy but we do not have names for them. We have two such orange zonals with single flowers: One is a vibrant orange color with quite large flowers, and the other is a beautiful soft pale orange. We'll post pictures here next spring, but if you're interested, please send us an email!
Pelargonium 'Our Flynn'
A stellar with strongly marked deep pink lower petals, very pale pink upper petals, and a large white eye.
Pelargonium 'Sarah Game'
West, UK. A double red stellar type.

Pelargonium 'St. Elmo's Fire'
A Stellar. Deeply divided leaves, and very narrow, divided salmon flowers. Dwarf.
Pelargonium 'Urchin'
Miller, USA, < 1970. A dwarf Formosa type zonal. "Large deep red flowers that open flat." Narrow lobed, small mid-green leaves.

Pelargonium 'Vectis Glitter'
Bred in Australia, in the 1970's. It is a white Stellar whose flowers are splashed and dotted with orange-red.
zone 9-10 Sp.-Fa. 8-10" $6.00
Pelargonium (White Zonal)
We have a good white zonal, but it was a gift from a customer and we have no name for it. We will post a picture here on the site as soon as it flowers in the spring.
'Vancouver Centennial'
Gillam, Canada, 1986. A Stellar with gold leaves covered almost completely with a brown zone. Flowers are orange-red and star shaped.

Plant of the Month

Geranium 'Orion'

Geranium 'Orion' has beautiful mid blue flowers. It is a tall clumping perennial, (USDA Zones 5 - 9), 24-30 x 36". It does well in full sun in mild summer gardens and morning sun/afternoon shade in hot summers. It can be combined with roses, iris, ornamental grasses and summer bulbs. It needs a horticultural corset when young, (twigs help support it until the clump size increases). See Page 166, The Plant Lovers Guide to Hardy Geraniums. (Photo by Donn Reiners)
