Pelargonium 'Rosebud Supreme'

It is described in the international Register of Pelargonium Cultivars as being first described in the Morden catalog, U.K., 1974. It is a scarlet rosebud pelargonium with pale reverses to the petals. It is supposed to be a dwarf, although our nursery plants seem to be the same size as the other rosebud pelargoniums. This is a Swedish pelargonium, and the flower was named after the home of Selma Lagerlöf, the author who won the Nobel Prize for literature in 1909. Pelargonium 'Balcon Royale'

It is supposed to come from Pine Ridge, Canada, 1986. The Balcon pelargonium are seen in towns throughout Europe. This is a favorite window box and container plant with single orange-red flowers (though the catalog describes the color as bright red). The photo was taken at St. Vincent, Val d'Aosta, in the Italian Dolomites.

Carolyn's Citrine

'Carolyn's Citrine' was discovered by Lance Reiners of Santa Cruz, California and named for his father Donn's wife, Carolyn. It is very dramatic pelargonium with bright yellow cordate (heart shaped) leaves with a variable mid green central blotch and bright lavender pink flowers with a network of reddish purple veins on the two large upper petals. The three lower petals are narrow and unmarked. It grows up to three to five feet high and wide, but can be kept smaller with judicious pruning. It should be grown in temperatures above 32 degrees F. It is patented and propagation is restricted to licensed propagators.
